RESIDENT ADVISORY BOARD
The Resident advisory board is committed to providing residents a voice.
The Resident Advisory Board (RAB) provides the PHA and the residents with a forum for sharing information about the Agency‘s Annual Plan. Section 511 of the United States Housing Act and the regulations in 24 CFR part 903 require that PHAs establish one or more Resident Advisory Board(s) (RAB) as part of the PHA Plan process. RAB members are comprised of individuals who reflect and represent the residents assisted by the PHA. The role of the RAB is to assist the PHA in developing the PHA Plan and in making any significant amendment or modification to the plan.
What is RAB?
The Resident Advisory Board is comprised of a jurisdiction-wide resident council. Resident council members are duly elected tenants (18 years and older) of the Asset Management Project or buildings (ex. Andrew Jackson Gardens, Harrison Gardens, Fox Hill Gardens, Monroe Gardens, Adams Gardens, Christopher Columbus). Every Hoboken Housing resident is encouraged to participate in resident council elections (held every three years for all Resident council representatives).
The Hoboken Housing Authority Resident Council and Resident Advisory Board are internal bodies designated to support the Mission and vision of the PHA in providing safe, decent housing for all residents.
The main role of the RAB is to make recommendations and provide input on any significant amendments or modifications in the development of the PHA Plan.
The authority is working to encourage participation from Housing Choice Voucher tenants in RAB.
MEETINGS
The resident council holds meetings, activities, and other programs with established partners and tenants residing in the development. Working in collaboration with resident services, property managers, and the executive director; the resident council provides ideas, suggestions, concerns, and complaints based on resident input for resolutions, particularly on issues from resident meetings.
RAB meetings are open to all HHA residents, housing choice voucher tenants, HHA commissioners, HHA staff, and other guests. As an internal body, the RAB compiles resident concerns, complaints, suggestions, and ideas to present them to the Executive Director, Resident Services, and Property Managers for solutions, support services, and guidance.
