Little Free Library (LFL) is launching in Hoboken this month. With approval from the city, three LFLs are being installed throughout our city at Church Square Park, 221 Jackson St. (HHA), and soon Columbus Park. The goal is to add more boxes over time as this initiative builds momentum. LFL is a “Take a book, Share a book” free book exchange and was created by a team of Hoboken residents to build a high quality and diverse book sharing experience for children and adolescents. Check it out and share the joy of reading! Join the Hoboken Little Free Library Facebook page to get updates, or follow us on IG #hobokenlfl.

Who and why was Hoboken Little Free Libraries started?

A group of educational and literacy-minded women came together in the summer of 2020 to volunteer their time towards a common goal: to bring a love and joy of reading to the children of Hoboken. HLFL is focused on promoting the exchange of high-quality, diverse books.

Who built and installed the Hoboken Little Free Libraries?

Initial funding for building supplies was contributed by the Hoboken Family Alliance and PJ Library of Hudson County. The DIY Joint and local students constructed the mailboxes and local businesses such as Cre8sArt School and other local families helped paint the boxes. Todd Hershberger, a local carpenter, led the installation in partnership with the City.
